Coat drive, city council meeting, park restoration parties and water projects
COAT DRIVE The citys adult community center and teen center are hoping to help Hope Community Churchs drive to collect childrens coats and toys. A donation barrel decorated by local teens is now set up at the ACC, 505 G Ave.
CITY COUNCIL The council next week is tentatively scheduled to consider a proposal to retrofit the citys streetlights with LEDs and to discuss the allocation of recent property sale proceeds along with capital project prioritization. The council will also continue a public hearing on the annexation of property at 5156 Dawn St. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday at city hall, 380 A Ave.
SPRINGBROOK PARK The Friends of Springbrook Park plan to hold a restoration work part from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. The goal is to remove English ivy from Mahonia Trail. Participants should wear boots and bring work gloves.

IRON MOUNTAIN A park restoration work party is also planned by Friends of Iron Mountain this weekend. The event will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday with participants gathering at the Brookside Trailhead on Iron Mountain Boulevard to remove invasive species and plant native grasses around Springbrook Creek. Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes and gloves.
UNSUNG HEROES The city is accepting nominations for its annual Unsung Hero awards, which recognize residents who make a positive different in the community. The deadline to submit nominations is Nov. 1. Applications are online at ci.oswego.or.us/publicaffairs/unsung-heroes, at city hall, 380 A Ave., or by calling 503-635-0257.
WATER PROJECTS The Lake Oswego Development Review Commission has approved the citys proposed Waluga Reservoir 2, a 3.5-million-gallon reservoir and associated pipeline. The project requires the removal of 195 trees. Findings will be adopted on Monday.
At the same meeting, the commission will continue a public hearing on the proposed division of a 7.34-acre site at 12800 SW Goodall Road into three parcels, a project requiring removal of two trees. A public hearing is also scheduled on the proposed modification of an approved permit to construct an elevated parking deck on the southeast corner of Bangy and Meadows roads.
