Mary Sennett Kucera

Longtime Lake Oswego resident Mary Sennett Kucera died Dec. 26, 2012. She was 90.

Mrs. Kucera was born in Philadelphia, Pa., to Alice and William Sennett. She spent her early childhood years with her younger brother, Bill, dividing time between Philadelphia and Swampscott, Mass.

In 1950 she moved to San Francisco where she met Alfred Kucera. They were married in 1961 and eventually settled in Saratoga, Calif. Mr. Kucera died in 1971.

Mrs. Kucera moved to Lake Oswego in 1978 and went to work at Marylhurst University as the assistant to the dean of academic affairs. She retired from this position after 22 years. Mrs. Kucera also held a real estate license and sold real estate for the Lutz Snyder Co. during the 1980s and 90s.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Kathy Kucera of Puyallup, Wash.; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Mike Jarman of Lake Oswego; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Jan. 25 at 2 p.m. at Christ Church Episcopal Parish, 1060 Chandler Road in Lake Oswego.

Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society in Alfred F. Kucera’s name.

Rose Ann Freeman

Native Oregonian Rose Ann Freeman died Jan. 18, 2013. She was 68.

Mrs. Freeman worked at Pacific Bell of California. When she retired, she moved back to Oregon, where she has lived for more than 17 years. She worked at the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center.

Survivors include her parents, Frank and Tonsy Sylvester of West Linn; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Christina Freeman of Portland; son, Timothy Freeman of Wilsonville; two grandsons; and sisters, Carol Richard, Katherine Smith and Patricia Koss.

A memorial service will be held Jan. 26 at 2 p.m. at Lake Oswego United Methodist Church, 1855 South Shore Blvd. in Lake Oswego.

Remembrances may be made to the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center or Lake Oswego United Methodist Church.

Richard ‘Dick’ Miller

Richard “Dick” Miller of Tigard died Jan. 6, 2013, of cancer. He was 74.

Mr. Miller was born in Hebron, Neb., and lived in Tigard for most of his life, graduating from Tigard High School in 1958.

He served in the U.S. Army and then joined his father in the automotive repair business. He owned and operated Miller Automotive Service for many years with his wife, Diane.

Survivors include his wife, Diane, of Tigard; daughters, Kim and Denise; two grandsons; brothers, Gary, Jim and Chuck; and sister-in-law, Susan. His parents and his sister, Bobbi, preceded him in death.

A memorial service has been held.
