Lakeridge is pleased to announce that it has hired Julia Hunsaker as the new girls lacrosse coach. Hunsaker grew up in the suburbs of Boston, Mass. where she lived with her family on a small farm.

Always tall and lanky as a kid, lacrosse didn’t always come naturally. She started playing in third grade and became a developed athlete by high school, where she played three years of varsity lacrosse at Middlesex Academy. Hunsaker was an All-American her senior year and played on the second team at the National Tournament.

She went through the recruiting process and ultimately decided to take time off before going to college. She landed at Chapman University in Orange, Calif. after spending 2 years coaching a high school team. In her two years at Chapman, Hunsaker led the team to a national championship, was an All-American and also the first player in Chapman women’s lacrosse history to have her jersey retired.

Hunsaker moved to Portland in February and found a position at Oregon Episcopal School coaching under Tucker Pierson. OES had an undefeated season and took home a league championship. Hunsaker is now returning to her fiancés alma mater with high hopes for the women’s lacrosse program, from youth to varsity. She believes in developing well-rounded, driven, supportive and creative young women through the game of lacrosse. She looks forward to this season and many years to come.
