Golfers finish regular season


LO boys finish unbeaten in league, Pacer boys post best score of the year

by: VERN UYETAKE - Lake Oswego's Alex Wrenn eyes a shot during his round at Oswego Lake Country Club on Monday. Wrenn shot a 68 to earn medalist honors at the event. The regular season wrapped up for the boys and girls golf teams at Lake Oswego and Lakeridge High School.

The Laker boys took advantage of their home course of Oswego Lake Country Club, clinching an undefeated regular season tying its best score of the season with a 287.

Alex Wrenn shined on the afternoon, cracking 70 for the first time and winning medalist honors with a sterling round of 68.

Cole Madey followed with a 72 and Clayton Madey shot a 73. Riley Elmes completed the scoring with a 74 as the Lakers finished under par as a team.

Lakeridge also put together a terrific afternoon, posting its best score of the season with a 321, good enough fore third place and just three shots out of second.

Jake Reif shot a strong round of 75, followed by Christian Anderson's 81, his best showing of the year.

David Zhou shot an 82, Cade Lawson fired an 83 and John Grace shot an 84, also posting his best score of the year.

For the girls, Lake Oswego finished in third again on the always difficult Oregon Golf Club course.

Alexa Huewe was the Lakers' low scorer with a round of 89. Jessica Lee and Stephanie Bell each shot 105.

For Lakeridge, Sonya Swanson shot a 103 to lead her team.

Both the boys and the girls will play at Stone Creek in Oregon City next Monday and Tuesday for the district tournament.
