Lakeridge dominates 22-4 and cruises into the Final Four

The Lakeridge boys lacrosse team made quick work of its quarterfinal opponent last week, pummeling Sherwood 22-4 to advance to another Final Four.

The Pacers were virtually unstoppable, jumping out to an 8-0 lead in the first quarter before the Bowmen knew what hit them.

As has been the case for much of the season, it was a team effort with multiple Pacers racking up goals and assists.

“Our ball movement was great as was our shot selection. We didn't let many opportunities go to waste,” coach Curt Sheinin said.

Lakeridge had the ball on Sherwood's side of the field for the vast majority of the game and the defense applied heavy pressure to create turnovers against a team that was ranked in the top 10 in the state.

The Pacers led 16-3 at the half, seemingly scoring on nearly every possession.

Lakeridge made large amounts of substitutions starting in the third quarter but still had little trouble finding the net.

The Pacers continued to control possession and the defense remained stingy, yielding just one goal in the second half.

Lakeridge easily advanced to the semifinals and is the only team left in the Final Four returning from last year.

The Pacers took on a surprising Beaverton team on Wednesday evening but results were not available at press time. With a win, Lakeridge would face the winner of West Linn and Jesuit at Tigard on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
