Laker wrestlers win four matches against Oregon City

Lake Oswego's wrestling team put up a strong performance against Oregon City last week. Despite forfeiting four matches, the Lakers only fell 48-21 and won four of nine contests on the evening.

The meet started with one of the best matches of the night. At 106 pounds, Lake Oswego's Hayden Hanson wrestled a terrific final round and held on for a tough 4-3 decision.

Oregon City would claim the next two matches but the Lakers got back in the win column at 126 pounds.

Brian Fay also went the distance in a close battle, coming away with a 5-3 decision in a very strong showing.

Riley Tallman followed at 132 pounds, scoring an impressive 9-2 victory.

At 138 pounds, Grant Van Hoomissen continued his roll, getting into an advantageous position late in the match and scoring a pin with just seven seconds remaining.

Oregon City would prevail in the heavier weights as the Lakers forfeited three of them. Lake Oswego's Paul Carlson received a forfeit from the Pioneers at 195 pounds.

The Lakers are now gearing up for the final push of the season, finishing up league this week before preparing for regionals at Reynolds High School.
