Westlake Public House wins National League championship title
The Westlake Public House Little League team saved its best for last.
Westlake Public House, facing Joe's Burgers in the Lake Oswego National Little League title contest, won the championship 9-3 on Monday.
The team, led by head coach Ed Joyce and assistant coaches Mike McClaskey and Scott Adler, emerged the undefeated playoff winner in the championship series.
Pitching by Rylan McClaskey and Sebastian Joyce allowed only three runs in five innings, and the winning run scored on an RBI by Conor Lyons.
The Lake Oswego National League is comprised of seven teams of boys in the third and fourth grades (and even a handful of second graders) within the Lake Oswego School District.
Over the spring season, these seven teams battled through 13 regular season games, then entered into the double elimination playoff series.
The team included coaches Mike McClaskey, Joyce and Adler, and players William Herion, Sebastian Joyce, Rylan McClaskey, Hudson Smith, Trent Bay, Jaden Moore, Merik Adler, Conor Lyons, Ben Robertson and Broden Loprinzi.
