Gentle readers, consider taking Gentle Yoga

Improve your strength, flexibility and balance over the summer by taking Gentle Yoga at the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center.

This course is ideal for those who have physical limitations, are recovering from injury or illness, seniors or those who prefer a slower-paced class. No prior experience is necessary. Bring your own sticky yoga mat. This course begins on Thursday, July 5 and runs through Aug. 16. The cost is $35 for LOACC members and $52 for non-members for the entire series. Friday, June 29

In Stitches, the center's quilting group, will meet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. downstairs in the Birch room, working cooperatively on various quilting projects. Walk-ins welcome.

The Special Interest Group on Investing meets today at 10 a.m. in the CLC. No cost.

The Rotary Club of Lake Oswego serves lunch at noon. The meal includes Caesar salad, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, peas, oatmeal rolls and tapioca pudding for dessert. Lunch is a suggested donation of $4 for those 60 and older; for all others, the cost is $5. Please call 503-635-3758 if you are coming.

Monday, July 2

The Computer Users Group meets weekly beginning at 9:30 a.m. This week's library presentation is "Old Masters and Their Painting Techniques." To view the Computer Learning Center website, visit lo-clc.org/.

Our Lady of the Lake Church serves lunch to celebrate Independence Day at noon. The meal includes spinach salad, baked chicken, baked beans, fresh fruit, freshly baked biscuits and all-American apple pie. The Old Time Fiddlers will be our special musical performers during lunch. Suggested donation for those 60 and older is $4; the cost is $5 for those younger than 60.

Lunch and Shop begins at 1 p.m. Join others as Jim Liu, our center driver, takes participants to Safeway for an hour of grocery shopping. Call to sign up.

Tuesday, July 3

The Happy Hikers group meets on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 9:15 a.m. to explore the trails of Tryon Creek State Park.

The Lake Oswego Respite Program begins at 11:30 a.m. in the Acorn room. The program costs $30 per participant each day and is held both Tuesdays and Thursdays on an ongoing basis. Contact Berta Derman, human services supervisor, at 503-635-3758 to register for the program.

Wednesday, July 4

The LOACC is closed today for the 4th of July holiday.

Thursday, July 5

The Oregon Gardens in Silverton welcomes visitors with more than 20 specialty gardens and features. Discover waterfalls, quiet ponds, fountains and a 400-year-old Signature Oak tree. Box lunch and transportation are included for center travelers, and space is currently available. LOACC members pay $28, non-members pay $42. The trip runs from approximately 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and leaves from the center. Contact the center for more information and registration at 503-635-3758.

Creative Hands meets in the Dogwood room from 9:30 a.m. to noon to work on handicraft projects benefiting various charities in the community. Come and join us.

Join us for a game of Scrabble from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Willow room.
