It is never too late to join the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center’s Spirit Mountain Casino trip scheduled for Thursday, July 19.

Jump on board to one of Oregon’s most popular attractions. Located on the Grand Ronde reservation, the casino is surrounded by the beautiful coastal range. Lunch is on your own. Plan to spend the entire day as the bus leaves the center at 9:30 a.m. and returns at 4 p.m. The cost for ACC members is $10 and $15 for all others. Please call 503-635-3758 for registration.

Friday, July 13

Obtain a free 30-minute consultation from a volunteer attorney beginning at 9 a.m. in the Cedar room. This consultation is by appointment only. Please contact the center to schedule an appointment.

In Stitches, the center’s quilting group, will meet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., downstairs in the Birch room, working cooperatively on various quilting projects. Walk-ins are welcome.

The Rotary Club of Lake Oswego serves lunch at noon. The menu consists of a fruit plate, sole Florentine, orzo, zucchini, fresh-baked focaccia bread and lemon bars for desert. Suggested donation for those 60 and older is $4; $5 for those under 60.

Monday, July 16

The Computer Users Group meets weekly beginning at 9:30 a.m. This week’s guest speaker is Ted Price, FBI agent, discussing “Protection from Scams and Spam.” To view the Computer Learning Center website, go to lo-clc.org.

At noon Lake Oswego Municipal Employees Association/AFSCME Local 1546 serves lunch, which will include broccoli slaw, submarine sandwiches with assorted meats, potato salad, fruit and brownies for dessert. Suggested donation for those 60 and over is $4; $5 for those under 60.

Lunch and Shop begins at 1 p.m. following lunch. Join others as Jim Liu, our center driver, takes participants to Safeway for an hour of grocery shopping. Call to sign up.

Tuesday, July 17

The Happy Hikers group meets on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 9:15 a.m. to explore the trails of Tryon Creek State Park.

The Lake Oswego Respite Program begins at 11:30 a.m. in the Acorn room. The program costs $30 per participant each day, and is held both Tuesdays and Thursdays on an ongoing basis. Contact Berta Derman, human services supervisor, at 503-635-3758 to register for the program.

The Caregivers Group meets today in the Cedar room from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. This group is open to family members and friends caring for older adults with memory issues. No cost and walk-ins are welcome.

Wednesday, July 18

United Methodist Church serves lunch at noon and today’s menu includes Caesar salad, barbecue beef on a bun, potato wedges, fruit and pear spice cake for dessert. Lunch is a suggested donation of $4 for those 60 and older; all others cost is $5. Please call 503-635-3758 if you are coming.

The weekly Supervised Computer lab runs from 12:30 to 2 p.m. downstairs in the center’s Computer Learning Center. No reservations required; just stop by.

Weekly Current Events with the Senior Studies Institute meets at the adult community center (note location change) through Aug. 15 from 1 to 3 p.m. The cost is an annual membership to SSI for $30; you may attend two sessions before you must join. Engage with others in discussions on various topics and current events.

From 1 to 3 p.m. experienced Pinochle players meet in the Willow room. Please call in advance so the group can coordinate play.

American mah jongg meets and plays between 1 and 4 p.m. in the Birch room at no cost. This group is for experienced players.

Thursday, July 19

Join others for a delightful day at Spirit Mountain Casino. Pre-registration is required. Call the center for more information at 503-635-3758.

Creative Hands meets in the Dogwood room from 9:30 a.m. to noon to work on handicraft projects benefiting various charities in the community. Come and join us.

Join us for a game of Scrabble, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Willow room. Drop-ins are welcome!
