Teens are invited to after-school activities

Lake Oswego Parks and Recreation events and activities


Calling all Teens! What are you doing this fall? The after school activities program (ASAP) is now taking fall registration. The ASAP and teen lounge drop-in program is designed for independent, self-directed teens. We strive to provide appropriate, supportive activities for all participants.

Child/Adult Art Experience

This class is devoted to teaching youngsters the process of making art, while giving inspiration to develop in an unhindered manner.

Through support of adults, the child gains confidence and an awakening in the senses of creativity and visual development using several materials and methods.

Age 2 to 7, Tuesday, Oct. 2 to Oct. 23, 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. $41.

Take Charge of Your Money

Take charge of your money and create your own financial plan.

Understand how to safeguard money and assets, manage debt, build net worth, avoid investment mistakes and plan for retirement. Age 18 and older, Tuesday, Oct. 2 to Oct. 16, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. $39.

Bob Ross Oil Painting-Peaks of Majesty

This easy step-by-step class takes beginners to seasoned painters from blank canvas to finished masterpiece in one class.

All supplies provided. Student may bring snack or beverage. Physically challenged students welcome. Age 12 and older, Thursday, Oct. 4, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. $50.

Digital Camera Basics

Basic operations include flip flash and manual mode. Take great pictures with your creative tool.

Learn all the basics. Before starting, it would be nice but not mandatory, if you know how to change the ISO and aperture and shutter speed. We’ll assume you don’t know much about anything when you begin, but you will know a lot when you leave!

Age 12 and older, Thursday, Oct. 4, 7 to 8:50 p.m. $40.

Ballroom Dancing I

Learn the staple of ballroom dance, the smooth foxtrot, and the fun and lively Latin dance, cha cha cha.

Students are ready for the dance floor after learning the basics and beyond in these two ballroom rhythms. Price shown is per couple, single price available also.

Age 16 and older, Thursday, Oct. 4 to Nov. 1, 7 to 8 p.m. $62.

Ballroom Dancing II

Take the basic steps you have learned in the beginning class and add some flair. Glide across the floor in the fox trot, waltz and tango.

Learn fun new moves in cha cha cha, rhumba and swing. Age 16 and older, Thursday, Oct. 4 to Nov. 1, 8 to 9 p.m. $62.

Fused Jewelry

No experience necessary for this class where you create your own beautiful fused glass jewelry. Play with various colors and shapes of glass, as well as the ever popular Dichroic glass. Fun for all.

Age 16 and older, Saturday, Oct. 6, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. $51.

Gesso Studio Drama Day Camp

Join in for a day of theater games, improv, and acting coaching. Games, fun and drama.

First Saturday in October, November and December, with snacks provided. Hope to see you there. Age 6 to 10, Saturday, Oct. 6 to Dec.1, 1 to 4 p.m. $65.
