Host of autumn events at Tryon Creek State Natural Area

Activities for all ages are offered this fall


As autumn rolls along, outdoor education and stewardship activities with the Friends of Tryon Creek abound. The following events provide the public with hands-on opportunities to connect with the natural world while supporting environmental preservation and resource conservation efforts.

Stewardship Saturday

Citizen Science Project

Oct. 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Friends of Tryon Creek will host a lunch and kick-off to the Owls of Tryon Creek citizen science project. Free. Pre-registration required.

Oregon State Parks Program

Oct. 27 from 8 to 11 a.m. A park naturalist will take interested people on a morning bird walk at Wapato Access Greenway on Sauvie Island. The informal walk will focus on bird identification, behavior and bird populations. Free. Pre-registration required.

Kids in Nature Series

Oct. 30 from 1 to 2 p.m. Children age 3-6 will learn about bats, owls, coyotes and more through crafts, stories, hikes and science experiments. $35. Pre-registration required.

Landscaping for Conservation Workshop

Nov. 9-10 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Learn about watersheds, drinking water, stormwater, water properties and more. Free. Pre-registration required.

Nov. 6 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Help locate owl species, plot bird locations, uncover owl territories, breeding and more. Free. Pre-registration required.
