Experience the thrill of an old-fashioned horse-drawn carriage this holiday season. Slow down and savor the sights and sounds with a memorable sleigh ride through downtown Lake Oswego.

Snuggle under the blankets and enjoy the magic of the majestic horses. Adults and children alike insist on making this an annual holiday tradition. Join us Dec. 1, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Dec. 9, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Dec. 14, 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Dec. 15, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Adults $3, 10 years and younger $1, and 2 years and younger are free.

Winter and spring registration is here
The winter/spring catalog will arrive at homes Dec. 8. Parks & Recreation has a variety of exciting classes to offer. Registration for winter/spring classes begins at 10 a.m. on Dec. 10. Lake Oswego residents receive priority placement until Dec.14. Residents will know immediately upon registering whether or not they are in a class or on a wait list — some classes do not offer wait lists.

Nonresident registrations are accepted but held on separate wait lists until Dec. 14 when the wait lists are processed on a first registered basis. Notification of final class/wait list status is mailed to non-residents Dec. 14 after non-resident wait lists have been processed. Registration is open to all on a first-come, first-served basis.

Friday night field trip for teens
Once a month, the Teen Lounge offers a full night of fun. Meet at the McKenzie Lounge in the West End Building, then head out for an evening of fun. This Friday join your Teen Lounge friends for a trip to the movies to see “The Hobbit, An Unexpected Journey,” the much anticipated prequel to the “Lord of the Rings.” Dinner is provided. Cross-country skiing on Mt. Hood
Adventures Without Limits (AWL) is mission-directed to empower people of all abilities through quality outdoor experiences. AWL provides participants with the opportunity to develop new skills, enhance awareness of the natural environment, build self-confidence and recognize personal potential. Join AWL for cross-country skiing and experience on Mt. Hood.

AWL starts the off day with a beginner to intermediate lesson on the basics of skiing before you hit the trails. This trip is a great way to learn to ski, improve on your current skills and meet new people. Bring your own lunch and AWL will provide a hot drink. AWL can adapt equipment and provide additional staff support to accommodate people with disabilities. Age 9 and older, Dec. 15, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. $68.

Kids in the kitchen cookie swap
The holidays are just around the corner, which means it’s time to learn how to bake your favorite holiday recipes and share them with friends. This class is hands-on fun in the kitchen. Kids will learn important cooking skills with chef Laura Content. Age 6 through 15, Dec. 15, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. $24.

Luscher Farm family dinners
Spend an afternoon cooking at Luscher Farm with your child and chef Laura Content. One parent and child will pair up to cook and create a family dinner using local and seasonal produce. Up to two other family members join the class at 4 p.m. for a home-cooked dinner at the farm featuring roasted chicken, vegetables and dessert. Age 6 and older, Dec.15, 2 to 5 p.m. $38.
