Join the solo dinner group at Azteca

LOACC events and activities


Join our Lake Oswego Adult Community Center’s Solo Dinner Group for a mid day dinner Jan. 27 at Azteca in Lake Oswego. Azteca features a wide selection of authentic Mexican fare including a variety of Mexican salads, soups, burritos, enchiladas and fajitas.by: SUBMITTED - LOACC members will dine at Azteca Jan. 27.

The group is open to all center members who do not have a significant other and would enjoy the company of others for a casual dinner. Center membership and a reservation are required. Call 503-635-3758 for more information.

Friday, Jan. 25 — Our Special Interest Investment Group meets today from 10 a.m. to noon. Join others who are enthusiastic about sharing their interest of investments. The group meets the last Friday of each month. No registration is required.

Our lunch today will be served to by Lake Oswego Fire Department and Friends. The lunch includes Caesar salad, salmon with hollandaise sauce, orzo, cauliflower, broccoli, wheat bread and chocolate raspberry mousse for dessert. Suggested donation for those 60 and over is $4; $5 for those under 60. Lunch is served promptly at noon. Call 503-635-3758 for a reservation.

After lunch enjoy our weekly movie. The theme of the Woodman Chronicles this month is Suspense: Hitch and Agatha. Today watch “Rear Window.”

Monday, Jan. 28 — Lunch today will be served by the Newcomers Welcome Club. Lunch will include fruit salad, cheddar chicken and brown rice, peas and carrots, focaccia bread and Snickerdoodle cookies for dessert.

Our vision group meets today from 1 to 2:30 p.m. This monthly group offers visually impaired adults an opportunity to obtain information, education and mutual support in matters related to vision impairments. Guest speaker Elke Bruton, MLIS from Oregon State University, will discuss “Talking Books and Braille Services.”

Tuesday, Jan. 29 — Find out how See’s Candies are made today from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Cost for ACC members is $3 and all others is $5. Registration is required. Call 503-635-3758 to register. The Lake Oswego Respite Program begins at 11:30 a.m. in the Acorn room. The program costs $30 per participant each day, and is held Tuesdays and Thursdays. Contact Human Services Supervisor Berta Derman at 503-635-3758 to register for the program.

Wednesday, Jan. 30 — Today lunch will be served by Our Lady of the Lake Church in our dining room. Lunch includes applesauce, braised beef with egg noodles, broccoli, wheat bread and birthday cake for dessert. Suggested donation for those 60 and over is $4; $5 for those under 60. Seating opens at 11:30 a.m. and lunch is served promptly at noon. Call 503-635-3758 to reserve a seat.

The weekly supervised computer lab runs from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in the Alder room. Experienced pinochle players meet from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Willow room. Call in advance to let us know you are coming so that pinochle group can coordinate play. American Mah Jongg meet and play from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays in the Birch room. This group is for experienced players.

Thursday, Jan. 31 — Creative Hands meets in the Dogwood room from 9:30 a.m. to noon to work on handicraft projects benefiting various charities in the community. New participants always welcome. The Lake Oswego Respite Program begins at 11:30 a.m. in the Acorn room. The program costs $30 per participant each day, and is held Tuesdays and Thursdays.
