LO Parks and Recreation activities

The Lake Oswego Luscher Farm is full of activities for all ages. If you haven’t been out to Luscher Farm to take part in one of many classes provided to the community, you sure are missing out.

Chef Laura Content will be cooking away in the farm house kitchen this winter. Come join the popular Kids in the Kitchen Series.

Children will learn to cook Fajitas and Mexican wedding cakes. Children will experience hands-on fun in the kitchen and learn important cooking skills while preparing a healthy meal. Age 6 to 15, Feb. 9, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., $24.

Luscher Farm family Dinners — Spend an afternoon cooking at Luscher Farm with your child and Chef Content. One parent and child will pair up to cook a family dinner using local and seasonal produce. Up to two other family members may join the class at 4 p.m. for a home-cooked dinner at the farm. Age 6 and older, Feb. 9, 2 to 5 p.m., $38.

Gardening for Year Round Color — Join Master Gardener Kathy Whitman and learn how to plan and plant your garden for year-round interest and color. Learn how foliage, blooms, texture and color work together for different effects. Learn which plants go where to make the most of your garden. Age 16 and older, Feb. 9, 9:30 to 11 a.m., $15.

Early Valentine’s Day Chocolate Walk — Start your holiday on a sweet note by joining us on this tour to more than six distinctive Lake Oswego gourmet destinations. Discover the amazing world of chocolate, local history and savor delectable samples as you walk off the extra calories. Age 18 and older, Feb. 9, 2 to 5:30 p.m., $43.

Cross-Country Skiing on Mt. Hood — Cross-country skiing is a great way to experience winter on Mount. Hood. Join Adventures Without Limits as it starts the day with beginner to intermediate lessons on the basics of skiing before you hit the trails. This trip is a great way to learn to ski, improve your current skills and meet new people. Bring your own lunch and we’ll provide a hot drink. Transportation is set up with Adventures Without Limits. Upon receiving your registration, they will contact you with transportation details. Age 9 and older, Feb. 9, 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., $69.

Oil Painting-Ocean Breeze — Learn how to paint with artist Judy Stubb. This easy, relaxing, step-by-step class takes beginners to seasoned painters from a blank canvas to a finished masterpiece in one class. All supplies are provided and students may bring snacks and beverages. Physically challenged students welcome. Age 12 and older, Feb. 7, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., $50.

Safe on My Own — Prepare your children for situations that may occur when they are alone. This course teaches kids about personal safety and develops independent, critical thinking techniques. Age 8 to 10, Feb. 8, 1 to 3:30 p.m., $60.
