Traveling in our own area with WLACC

Take a ride in the centers van

The West Linn Senior Center waited a long time for its very own bus. Everyone had so many places they wanted to go. People love to travel and it might as well be close to home.

We plan a couple of trips each month. We have great drivers, some of our own people who are trained and have worked hard to get their commercial driver’s license.

We go to the beach, state parks, forestry centers, farms, the Japanese and Chinese gardens, to covered bridges, Timberline Lodge. We have also done the Fruit Loop tour around Hood River, trips to Silver Creek Falls, the Tillamook Cheese Factory, wineries, outlet malls and casinos. Each Christmas we travel to the Albertina Kerr Center for a holiday luncheon and shopping.

When we have lunch out the camaraderie is great. We get the opportunity to see fellow WLACC members in a different setting and share the different places we go.

There are so many beautiful and interesting places to see and visit in our area, we don’t run out of ideas and if we do, we can start all over again. Lynn, WLACC director, welcomes new ideas for places for us to visit. These trips are open to all members. We put a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board that you see as you enter the building. So, if you are interested, better get your name on the list for your favorite trip, or you just might miss your chance!

Here are the upcoming week’s activities. Call the WLACC at 503-557-4704 for specific times and possible fees. Also, all meals listed below are subject to change, but only for the better. Computer assistance is currently being offered by appointment between 9 a.m. to noon, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

And don’t forget you can pick up canvases and information about the West Linn Lutheran Church’s art fundraiser at the WLACC, from the church directly at This email address is being protected from spambots.
