Luscher Farm Children’s Garden needs volunteer teachers

An informational session will be held April 20 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Luscher Farm Children’s Garden for people interested in helping grow food or lead tours this spring and summer. No experience is necessary.

The garden relies on volunteers to keep the garden beds and paths weed free and to teach classes to the children.

Learn about Elders in Action’s Age Friendly Certification

Elders in Action, a nonprofit organization that advocates for and supports the active involvement of older adults in the community, will hold an informational session about its Age Friendly Certification program on April 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. at 5000 Meadows Road, suite 399 in Lake Oswego.

The event is hosted by Elders in Action Board Member Tom Daniels of Oswego Crest Financial.

Those attending will meet business people committed to building an age-friendly community and learn how Elders in Action’s personal advocate program can support their work. Refreshments will be served.

Drug take-back event planned

To help citizens dispose of unwanted or expired prescription medicines, the city of Lake Oswego will hold a one-day drug take back event April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center, 505 G Ave.

Unwanted prescription medicines will be accepted from individual households only; they cannot be accepted from businesses such as nursing homes, doctor’s offices or other institutions.

Lake Grove Garden Club to hold annual plant sale

The Lake Grove Garden Club will hold its annual plant sale April 27 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the mall at Wizer’s Foods, 310 First St. in downtown Lake Oswego.

Included in the sale will be herbs, perennials, annuals and vegetable starts.

Proceeds from the sale are used to support the club’s local conservation, beautification and education programs.
