by: SUBMITTED PHOTO - Lynne Bacon and Henrietta the Hen will keep you entertained at Luscher Farm with songs and stories all summer long.Have you experienced Lake Oswego’s Luscher Farm? Luscher Farm is one of Lake Oswego’s most happening places to be during the summer months, for little ones to the young at heart. Everything is in full bloom and ready for exploration. Whether it be a stroll in the children's garden or hunting down Sneaky Pete the famous scarecrow, enjoying barnyard tales, feeding the chickens, making wishes with dandelions, exploring the wonders of the earth, lying in the grass looking up into the sky, digging in the dirt and sometimes even dodging raindrops. See below a list of various programs offered at Luscher Farm or visit lakeoswegoparks.org.

Explore Luscher Farm

Barnyard Tales. Welcome the sunshine on a special summer day by singing songs and listening to stories by Henrietta the Hen. Explore the farm by feeding the chickens oatmeal, chard leaves and broccoli flowers along the way to the children's garden. Visit the worms in the children's garden worm bin and feed them banana peels, apple cores, tops of strawberries, fruit and vegetable peelings, purple cabbage leaves, asparagus stems and egg shells. You can even hold and touch big juicy worms to examine. Check out the popular Barnyard Tales bulletin at luscherfarmbarnyardbulletin.blogspot.com.

Sweet Treat and Barnyard Birthday Parties. If you and your family enjoy Luscher Farm you will enjoy a special birthday party out at the farm. Enjoy your child’s birthday while we take care of the party. Choose from a cooking or art theme. Party supplies and favors and homemade cupcakes are provided.

Kids in the Kitchen — Summer Fun Series. Experience hands-on fun in the kitchen with chef Laura Content. Kids will learn the importance of cooking skills and preparing fun, healthy meals. Learn tips on using produce straight from the garden and take home lifelong memories of learning how to cook.

Luscher Farm Family Dinners. Spend an afternoon cooking with chef Laura Content. Parent and child enjoy the afternoon creating a delicious dinner using local, farm-grown and seasonal produce. Later invite your family to the farm to enjoy your prepared meal at 4 p.m. Your family will be impressed with this special feast.

Scarecrow Sculpting. Create and decorate a spooky, dazzling or lifelike scarecrow. Scarecrows are in the farm gardens to bring inspiration to our own creation. Participants are invited to bring ideas and items from home to personalize their scarecrows. Basic materials provided in the workshop will be hay and scarecrow frame.

Maintaining your summer garden. Now that you have your summer scarecrow to put in your garden it’s time to learn how to keep your garden maintained throughout the summer. Learn about deadheading and pruning techniques to restore a languishing summer garden and to renew its beauty. Learn what to do and when. Dress for the weather and bring hand pruners.

Walking History Tour of Luscher Farm. Join Park Ranger Ben for a tour and history chat about the farm and the interesting characters who have lived there. Meet at the Luscher Farm office, rain or shine. This tour is best for those who are ambulatory. Parents are welcome to backpack or carry children.
