by: SUBMITTED PHOTO - A dinner was recently held at the WLACC in appreciation of the hours volunteers put into serving at the center. The Friends of the West Linn Adult Community Center are a generous bunch. And those who volunteer their time to keep the activities running are especially so.

Each week, the WLACC offers about 30 different activities for community members to enjoy, and each one requires at least one person to lead it. Tai chi, the walking group, woodcarving, aerobics, card games, exercise, yoga, writing, ukulele, line dancing, oil painting, knitting and many more fill out the weekly calendar.

Additional volunteers are needed to staff the front desk, help in the kitchen, serve on committees and be on the board of the Friends. All these people give their time to the enterprise that is the WLACC.

And as Luella Hunt said, “We don’t do it because it’s work, we do it because we enjoy the social interaction.”

To demonstrate our appreciation for these folks, the Friends group hosted a dinner earlier this month for all the volunteers and their spouses. The menu included ham, scalloped potatoes and several kinds of salads, rolls and cookies. The volunteers were grateful for the food and recognition, but in reality they deserve much more.

Thank you, volunteers!

Here are the upcoming week’s activities. Call the WLACC at 503-557-4704 for specific times and possible fees. Also, all meals listed below are subject to change, but only for the better.
