Come to WLACCs old-fashioned spaghetti feed

by: SUBMITTED PHOTO - Dont miss the fun or the food at the West Linn Adult Community Centers spaghetti feed on Aug. 2. Proceeds from the event will benefit the centers expansion project.

By this time of the year, who isn’t fed up with barbequed burgers and hot dogs? You can/should eat only so many of those meals each summer if you want the American Heart Association to approve your diet.

So for a change of culinary pace come to the West Linn Adult Community Center on Aug. 2 for a traditional spaghetti dinner with garlic bread, green salad, vegetable, dessert, iced tea and coffee. All of this is only $7 and a glass of wine will be only an additional $3.

But wait, there’s more. Starting at 3 p.m., we will display a half dozen or more classic cars on the WLACC lawn. The dinner will begin about 5 p.m. and will be followed at 6 p.m. by announcing the winners of the raffle contest for gift shop gift certificates. Finally, our Share Singers group and our ukulele group will lead everyone in singing old-time songs, some of which were popular 100 years ago when West Linn was just a gleam in the Portland area’s eye.

All this is, of course, designed to supplement the centennial birthday celebration that the city of West Linn is holding for itself all weekend long. And it’s designed to acquaint participants with all the programs and activities that are regular events at the WLACC.

The proceeds from the dinner will go into our expansion fund so that one day we’ll have a larger facility with room for even more programs and activities. You can help with this enterprise and enjoy an evening of old-time food and fun on the afternoon of Aug. 2.

Here are the upcoming week’s activities. Call the center at 503-557-4704 for specific times and possible fees. Also all meals listed below are subject to change, but only for the better.
