Online registration saves time and energy

Scholarship Program

A limited number of partial scholarships are available for city and school district residents needing financial assistance.

The scholarship program is dependent upon donations from groups and individuals. Many thanks to the generous online donations of class participants and to our major sponsors, Lake Oswego Women’s Club and LO Mom’s Club. To make a donation to the scholarship fund, go to lakeoswegoparks.org and enter “scholarship” in the keyword field to help support and give back to our community.

Summer Camps

Rockets and the Science of Flight. Space, rockets, planes and flight — a little bit of everything for a rockin’ good time. Younger campers have a blast learning the hows and whys of aerodynamics by studying all things that fly: planes, kites, hot air balloons, helicopters and of course rockets. For ages 5 to 7, Aug. 26 through 30, 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is $157.

Rocket Lab. 3...2...1...Blast Off! Build and launch a rocket everyday and learn the physics of rocket flight. Campers learn the importance of teamwork in launching rockets and will have the opportunity to try their hand at each role.

For ages 7 to 12, Aug. 26 through 30, 1 to 4 p.m. Cost is $157.

Summer classes

Bachelor Island Kayaking Tour. Experience a variety of conditions on the Columbia River in which to practice paddling skills. Introductory experience required. For ages 10 and older. Aug. 25, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fee for ages 10 to 15 is $45; 16 and older pay $75.

Middle School Here I Come. Learn tips, tricks and tools from a former elementary and middle school teacher to help you stay ahead of the game. For ages 11 to 12, Aug. 26, 1 to 3 p.m. Cost is $48.

Picture Critiquing. Learn to take better pictures by understanding composition, lighting and perspective. Bring in 12 to 15 pictures that you have taken and we’ll show you how they could have been improved. For ages 12 and older, Aug. 29, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., $18.

Fused Glass Wind Chimes. Add a musical touch by creating a fused glass wind chime for all to admire. All tools provided and additional fees may apply. Ages 16 and older, Aug. 31, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., $76.
