Welcome to fall. Registration is now open for all parks and recreation fall classes. Go online and see all the new fun and exciting activities.

Fall classes

Nia. A variety of Nia classes are offered through LO Parks and Recreation. This love-your-body Nia workout is a fitness and lifestyle practice combining martial arts, dance and healing arts. This class is transformational, powerful, graceful and fun. Through movement find health. See the fall catalog for all classes. Ages 14 and older.

Piano Explores 3+. This class is a continuation course for returning students from Explorers 3 program or approval from instructor. Fee includes course materials. Ages 7 to 12, Tuesday, Sept. 1 to Dec. 31, 4:45 to 5:30 p.m., $105.

Watercolor Fundamentals. Instructor Rudy Stevens teaches you how to open up to new ideas and have fun while learning skills using photos, light and dark, shapes, layout, color, emotion, composition and value. Ages 18 and older, Wednesday, Sept. 4 to Nov. 6, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., $120.

Fairy Tale Ballet 1. Enter the imaginary world of fairy tales, fun and self-expression through ballet-based dance. Creativity is sparked when we use props, instruments and classical music. Dance attire discussed at first class or call in advance for attire information at 503-381-3281. Ages 3 to 4, Wednesday, Sept. 4 to Oct. 16, 1 to 1:30 p.m., $76. Saturday class; ages 3 to 4, Sept. 7 to Oct. 19, 10:05 to 10:35 a.m., $76.

Hooked on Phonics Reading Enrichment. Hooked on Phonics is a visual tool that allows you to measure your child’s learning progress. The HOP program is designed to help your child learn letter names and their sounds. They will learn to combine letter sounds to read words, practice reading and understanding those words in stories and books and enjoy learning to read. This program includes all related materials and personal attention of a tutorial instructor. Ages 3 to 5, Sept. 3 through 26, Tuesday and Thursday, 4:15 to 4:45 p.m. $148 (ages 5 to 8, Wednesday, Sept. 4 to Sept. 25, 4:15 p.m. to 4:45 p.m., $74).

Toddler Early Learning Experience. Join us for a fun-filled learning experience using imagination, games, songs and activities. Children are engaged in a specific theme each day while parents are away. Ages 1 to 2, Thursday, Sept. 5 to 26, 9 a.m. to noon, $167.

Bob Ross Oil Painting — Magnolias. This step-by-step class takes beginners to seasoned painters from a blank canvas to a finished masterpiece in one class. All supplies are provided and students are welcome to bring a snack and beverage. Physically challenged students welcome. Ages 12 and older, Thursday, Sept. 5, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., $48.

Preregistration is required for nearly all parks and recreation classes and activities. Class information is in the Parks & Recreation Activities Guide.
