Walk to fight Alzheimers with WLACC team

Join the WLACCs Still Kickin team to raise funds for Alzheimers research

The Walk to End Alzheimers will be held at Portland International Raceway on Sept. 8.

If the seniors at the West Linn Adult Community Center know anything, we know that supporting the fight against Alzheimer’s disease is a good cause.

This year, thanks to the efforts of Mike and Carrie Lindner, we are once again fielding a team to join Portland’s “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” event to be held at Portland International Raceway on Sept. 8 at 2 p.m. Our team is called “Still Kickin.”

This event is duplicated in more than 600 communities across the country. It’s designed to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research.

The WLACC team will board the center’s bus at noon on Sept. 8 for transport to and from PIR for the three-mile walk, which equates to one lap around the PIR track. Those preferring not to walk can explore the vendor booths, food, giveaways, music, a car show and much more that will be onsite.

To join our team, you can sign up at the WLACC, whereupon you will receive a welcome email from the Alzheimer’s Association directing you to the website where you can make a personal donation or easily solicit friends and family to donate in support of your efforts. “Still Kickin” has a goal of raising $1,500 or more by Sept. 8.

Donations are, of course, tax deductible, and we guarantee a fun afternoon of activities whether or not you choose to do the walk. So consider joining us in this very worthwhile cause. Call the center at the number below for even more information.

Here are the upcoming week’s activities. Please call the WLACC at 503-557-4704 for specific times and possible fees. Also, all lunches listed below are subject to change, but only for the better.
