Rabing spearheads project to help children

by: SUBMITTED PHOTO - Maddie Rabing, a sophomore at Lakeridge High and member of the Lake Oswego chapter of National Charity League, spearheaded a campaign to collect clothing and hygiene items for children in need.

Members of the Lake Oswego chapter of National Charity League (NCL) recently participated in Maddie Rabing’s Share Your Passion project for Northwest Children’s Outreach (NCO).

NCL’s Share Your Passion program is designed to encourage young members to invest time and energy to make a difference in something they are passionate about.

Rabing, a sophomore at Lakeridge High School, has volunteered multiple times with NCO, an all-volunteer organization designed to help children in need by collecting clothing and hygiene items for distribution to care providers who meet directly with the children.

In an effort to help the organization meet its goal of providing every child with a four-week supply of hygiene items and back-to-school clothing, she enlisted the aid of 100 mother and daughter members of the NCL chapter to help.

The Lake Oswego chapter of NCL currently has 383 members and provides hands-on volunteer service for more than 25 philanthropic organizations.

In 2012-2013, the Lake Oswego chapter of NCL provided more than 7,000 hours of service to the local community. Through community service the organization develops socially responsible community leaders and strengthens the mother-daughter relationship.

The traditional NCL program includes cultural awareness and experiences. For more information about organization, visit ncllakeoswgeo.org.
