Adults invited to join the masters rowing program


by: SUBMITTED PHOTO - Adult rowers are invited to join the Lake Oswego Commuity Rowing Masters program offered through Lake Oswego Parks and Recreation.

Lake Oswego Parks and Recreation invites experienced adult rowers to join the LO Community Rowing Masters Program. Whether you are an experienced rower or relatively new, our coaching staff can hone your skills and bring your rowing to a new level.

For ages 18 and older, the group meets daily in October from 5:15 to 7:15 p.m. Cost is $100.

Enjoy rafting the North Santiam River with a number of Class III rapids including Spencer’s Hole, Carnivore and Mill City Falls. Throw on one of Adventures Without Limits wetsuits for a fall run. For ages 9 and older, Oct. 5, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., $69.

Cook’s Butte Tour. Did you know that Cook’s Butte is part of the Boring lava field? Cooks Butte is an extinct volcano rising to 718 feet above the Stafford Basin. The trail has a moderate elevation gain and some of Lake Oswego’s most interesting natural and native history. Parents are welcome to backpack or carry children. Tour is not stroller/wheelchair accessible. Meet at the entrance of Stevens Meadows off of Atherton Road. All Ages, Oct. 5, 10 a.m. to noon. Cost is $5.

Luscher Farm Happenings

Fall Gardening and Fiber Arts Workshop. Harvest items from the garden and farm to use in your very own creation. Try your hand at spinning, basket weaving and dyeing. For ages 7 to 14, Oct. 3 and 4, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $100.

Hooked on Phonics reading enrichment. Hooked on Phonics is designed to help your child learn letter names and sounds, combine the sounds to read words, practice reading those words in stories, understand the meaning of stories and enjoy learning to read. The program includes all materials and personal attention of the instructor. For ages 3 to 5, Tuesdays and Thursdays, Oct. 1 to 24, 2 to 2:30 p.m. Cost is $148.

Toddler Early Learning Experience. Join a fun-filled learning experience using imagination, games, songs and activities. Children are engaged in a specific theme each day while parents are away. For ages 1 to 2, Thursdays, Oct. 3 to 24, 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is $167.

Bob Ross Oil Painting — Hidden Delight. This step-by-step class takes beginners to seasoned painters from a blank canvas to a finished masterpiece in one class. All supplies will be provided. Physically challenged students are welcome. For ages 12 and older, Oct. 3, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $48.

Photography for Real Estate Sales. Curb appeal is only the first step in making a home saleable. Unveiling the inner beauty of a home is even more important. Learn lighting and perspective for great results. For ages 14 and older, Oct. 2, 7 to 9 p.m. Cost is $36.

What’s Your Retirement Plan? Cost includes workbook. For ages 50+, Oct. 3 and 10, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Cost is $42.
