Dont miss the next bus excursion

(Editor’s note: Regular contributor Doug Dickston is on vacation. During his absence, different members will be sharing highlights of happenings at the West Linn Adult Community Center.)

by: SUBMITTED PHOTO - Members of the West Linn Adult Community Center recently took the centers bus on a road trip to Cannon Beach. Dont miss out on the fun. Sign up to go on the next road trip.

Here at the West Linn Adult Community Center we go places, explore areas, eat lunch and have fun. Recently the center’s bus took a group to Cannon Beach. This was one of our longer trips, but the time went by all too quickly.

It was predicted to be a stormy day, but that did not deter our little band of intrepid explorers. And as it turned out, we were rewarded with a wonderful day perfect for walking along the beach and through the shops. The calm breeze was a nice compliment to the clouds in the sky. That combination kept the temperature at a very comfortable 72 degrees.

While walking along the beach one saw wave after wave of pelicans come in for a landing in the shallow waters as the tide receded.

The ubiquitous seagulls were sharp eyed on the lookout for a handout. Then there is the sound of the water as the waves gently find their way up the beach then disappear into the sand. So relaxing. And the iconic Haystack Rock is a point of interest all on its own.

The town of Cannon Beach has points of interest that will appeal to a wide variety of visitors and is one of the favorite destinations of members of the WLACC. It is a trip worth repeating. Members have preference to a seat on the bus.

So when is the next bus trip? Where is the next destination? Come up to the center and look around. You just might find yourself on the next excursion. Wouldn’t that be cool?

WLACC Gift Shop

Come visit the best-kept shopping secret in town. If you’re a regular gift shop shopper, bring a new person with you. Many wise shoppers are beginning to think about holiday shopping, and wiser-yet shoppers know that our gift shop boasts fall, winter and holiday items that turn over weekly. It’s a stress-free place to look for children’s gifts and new jewelry. We are looking for volunteers to staff the shop as subs and as Monday afternoon regulars. Contact Veronica Ferenz at the front desk if you are interested. The shop is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
