It’s time to register for Lake Oswego City League Adult Basketball. Now is the time of year when all the LO hoopsters come together to battle it out for a chance to play in the championships. Does your team have what it takes to bring home the famous championship T-shirt?

Registration information is available at or stop by the parks and recreation department office at 4101 Kruse Way. Registration opens Oct. 16; registration and payment deadline is Nov. 6. There will be a mandatory all team manager/adult supervisor meeting Oct. 30 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Join us for adult drop-in sports, designed for the fun and fitness of Lake Oswego residents 18 and older. Bring identification for resident rate. Volleyball is now open, table tennis and basketball open in October. Non-residents may play if space allows. For specific dates of drop-in programs, visit the website and click on “Open Gym.”

Kids in the Kitchen Squash and Apple Soup, Biscuits and Blondies. Hands-on fun in the kitchen. Learn important cooking skills while preparing a healthy meal using produce from the children’s garden. For ages 6 to 15, Oct. 19, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. $27.

Juicing for Better Health. Fresh fruits and vegetables can boost health and vitality. Discover the power of juicing and how to make it part of your daily life. For ages 18 and older, Oct. 17, 6 to 7:30 p.m. $20.

Art at the WEB

Mixed Media for Kids. Students get a wide variety of art experiences including watercolor, acrylics, charcoal, pastel, collage and ordinary objects that can be transformed into creative works of art. For ages 6 to 12, Saturdays, Oct. 19 to Nov. 16, 10 to 11:30 a.m. $48.

Water Color Texture Workshop. Learn how to scrape, salt, plastic wrap and mask (the common items), along with new and unusual texturing techniques. This workshop has demonstrations, personal instruction and time to paint.

There is a $12 materials fee due to instructor at class. Ages 18 and older, Oct. 14, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. $44.

Photography for Artists. How to photograph works of art. Learn concepts of lighting and perspective for the most advantageous presentation. For ages 13 and older, Oct. 16, 7 to 9 p.m. $27.

Basic Manners for Children. Prepare for holiday get-togethers and develop excellent social skills by learning considerate and respectful behavior toward others. For ages 5 to 8, Oct. 14, 9 a.m. to noon. $35.

Women and Investing. For women planning their financial future. How to create a financial plan post-divorce, death of spouse and college funding for children. Cost includes $25 workbook. For ages 18 and older, Thursdays, Oct. 17 and 24, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. $42.
