Fire chief explains what to expect in emergencies

The Lake Oswego Adult Community Center’s arthritis group will meet from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 23. Our special guest speaker will be Assistant Fire Chief Larry Goff.

He will speak on “Emergency Services Response — What to Expect.” He will explain what type of resources the fire department sends in an emergency and why. There will be a question and answer time, so bring your questions. These monthly meetings feature a variety of programs to benefit those living with arthritis. No fee and walk-ins welcome.

Following is a list of activities planned this week. Call the center at 503-635-3758 for class registration and to make reservations for lunch. Lunches are served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the suggested donation of $4 for those 60 and better; for others the cost is $5.

Friday, Oct. 4

Woodman Chronicles will show “Creature From the Black Lagoon” at 1 p.m.

Monday, Oct. 7

Lunch is served by Our Lady of the Lake and the entrée is shrimp and broccoli in alfredo sauce.

The computer users group meets from 9:30 to 11 a.m.; duplicate bridge meets from 1 to 4 p.m. Contact Jeannette Roberts at 503-620-5036 for information.

Tuesday, Oct. 8

Pre-arranged bridge meets from noon to 3 p.m. Contact Sharon Paz at 503-636-9757. This is a free activity, however LOACC membership is required.

Wednesday, Oct. 9

Lake Oswego Rotary serves lunch and the entrée is beef stroganoff.

The weekly supervised computer lab runs from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Experienced pinochle players meet from 1 to 3 p.m. Call in advance so play can be coordinated. Experienced American mahjong play happens from 1 to 4 p.m.

Thursday, Oct. 10

Creative Hands group meets from 9:30 a.m. to noon to work on handicraft projects benefiting various charities in the community. Play Scrabble from 1 to 3 p.m. or join the bridge and social group from 1 to 4 p.m. Call Jeanne Fox at 503-344-6941 for information. This is a free activity but LOACC membership is required.
