Get city league basketball team together now

It’s time to register for Lake Oswego high school city league basketball. Now is the time of year when all the LO hoopsters come together to battle it out for a chance to play in the championships.

Does your team have what it takes to take home the famous championship T-shirt? Registration information is available at lakeoswegosports.com or stop by the parks and recreation department, 4101 Kruse Way.

Registration will open on Oct.16. The registration and payment deadline is Nov. 6. There will be a mandatory all team manager/adult supervisor meeting on Oct. 30 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Note that city league adult basketball registration opens Nov. 13.

Intro to Rock Instruments. Not sure what instrument is right for your child? Try them all. This course teaches introductory lessons for bass and electric guitar, keyboards, drums, percussion and vocals. Oct. 21 to Dec, 2, ages 5 to 7, 3 to 4 p.m. and ages 7 to 12 4:15 to 5:15 p.m., $101.

Intro to Guitar II. Already have the basics mastered and want to learn more? This class dives further into guitar techniques and musical genres. Each week, learn a new style and how to play songs in that style. Ages 7 to 12, Oct. 21 to Dec. 2, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., $101.

Bob Ross Oil Painting-Embers of Sunlight. This step-by-step class takes beginners to seasoned painters from blank canvases to a finished masterpiece in one class. All supplies provided. Physically challenged students are welcome. Ages 12 and older. Oct. 21, 5:30 to 9 p.m., $48.

ASAP Friday Night Field Trip-Fright Town Haunted House. Meet at the McKenzie Lounge in the West End Building, then head out for an evening full of adventure. Dinner is provided and space is limited, so register early. This Friday test your nerves and see if you can stomach all three haunted houses at the famous Fright Town beneath the Memorial Coliseum. Ages 11 to 17, Oct. 25, 5 to 9 p.m., $34.

Beginning Line Dance. Have a foot stompin’, heel kickin’ “yee-haw” shouting good time with instructor Holli Wronski. Learn a new dance every week in a comfortable and friendly environment. Dances progress from beginner to intermediate over the course of the session. Receive instruction, CD music, and have fun dancing. Ages 14 and older, Friday, Oct. 25 to Nov. 22, 6 to 7 p.m., $28.

No Carve Pumpkin Decorating. Make your pumpkin spooky or spiffy using fabrics, paints and natural materials. Gather items from the Children’s Garden for this project. Ages 7 and older, Oct. 26, 10 a.m. to noon. $10.
