Did you know the Lake Oswego Parks and Recreation Department offers several adult cultural dance classes and adult fitness classes throughout the year? Check out this week’s featured classes below.

n Muscle Release With a Foam Roller. With the help of a foam roller, your own body weight and gravity experience deep muscle release. Improve sense of well-being and body-ease. Rollers available on class day for $20, payable to instructor, or bring your own. Taught by Ryan Crosby and Cynthia Ferrier. Ages 18 and older, Nov. 2, 10 a.m. to noon, $34.

n Beginning Belly Dance. Learn basic belly dance movement, steps and rhythms. This is a fun workout appropriate for all ages and body types. Ages 12 and older, Mondays, Oct. 28 to Dec. 9, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., $44.

n Belly Dance: Beyond the Basics. Refine basic techniques while adding challenging new movements and combinations. Recommended three sessions at beginning level prior to enrolling. Ages 12 and older, Mondays, Oct. 28 to Dec. 9, 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., $44.

n Tap Dance for Adults. All abilities are welcome for these beginning sessions. Students learn coordination, rhythmic variations and performance skills through a series of tap combinations with instructor Sara Martins. Ages 16 and older, Tuesdays and Fridays, Oct. 29 to Dec. 10, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., $111.

n Gesso Studio: Afterschool Art. Acquire new skills in a variety of mediums to ignite imagination, strengthen thinking skills and develop as an artist. Ages 5 to 12, Tuesdays, Oct. 29 to Dec. 3, 4:15 to 5:45 p.m., $72.

n Baby Sitter Training. Be the most desirable baby sitter on the block. Topics will include accident prevention, handling emergencies, first aid, child development, positive supervision and the rights and responsibilities of a good baby sitter. Ages 11 to 15, Nov. 1, 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., $102.

n DIY Unfinished Knitting Projects Workshop. Know how to knit but need a refresher course? Bring a current knitting project and get individual instruction and help to finish your project in a snap. Cable stitches, purling, binding off and other difficult or confusing knitting techniques can be conquered in this workshop. Ages 10 and older, Oct. 27, 1 to 4 p.m., $18.

n Seed Starting Workshop. Learn about seed germination, options for medium, how to stratify, as well as water temperature and light requirements. Leave with potted or bagged seeds. Ages 18 and older, Saturday, Nov. 2, 9 a.m. to noon, $10.
