Dont miss the wurst festival

by: SUBMITTED PHOTO - Volunteers have made hundreds of pounds of sausage and sauerkraut for the Verboort Sausage and Kraut Festival. Sign up to take the LOACC bus to the feast Nov. 11.

Join the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center on our trip to Verboort Sausage and Kraut Festival on Nov. 2.

The center’s bus will take you to Verboort and you can experience the 78-year-old tradition. Enjoy handmade sausage, sauerkraut and applesauce made by the hundreds of community volunteers.

Cost is $27 for LOACC members and $40 for all others. Call the center to register.

Also, call the center to register for classes and make lunch reservations. Lunches are served from 11:30 to 1 p.m. Cost is a suggested donation of $4 for those 60 and better and all others are $5.

Friday, Oct. 18

Free blood pressure checks between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Walk in, no fee; donations accepted. L unch is served by Marge and Friends; entrée is meatballs in marinara sauce.

After lunch, join us at 1 p.m. for Woodman Chronicles where our feature presentation will be “The Raven.”

Monday, Oct. 21

The computer users group meets from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Lunch is served by LOMEA. Lunch entrée is sour cream chicken. Duplicate bridge meets from 1 to 4 p.m. Contact Jeanette Roberts at 503-620-5036 for information. The mixed media group, for artists looking for a supportive and friendly place to work, meets at 1 p.m. Join in conversation with likeminded peers. No cost.

Tuesday, Oct. 22

The Lake Oswego Respite Program begins at 11:30 a.m. The program costs $30 per participant each day and is held Tuesdays and Thursdays. Contact Berta Derman, human services supervisor, at 503-635-3758 for registration and information. Prearranged bridge meets from noon to 3 p.m. for open play. Contact Sharon Paz at 503-636-9757. No cost, membership required.

Wednesday, Oct. 23

The arthritis group meets at 10 a.m. This monthly meeting features a variety of programs and a guest speaker to benefit those with arthritis. Lunch is served by City Slickers. Entrée is pulled pork sliders. The weekly supervised computer lab runs from 1 to 2:30 p.m. All are welcome. Experienced pinochle players meet from 1 to 3 p.m. Call to let us know you are coming so play can be coordinated. American mahjong play occurs between 1 and 4 p.m. This group is for experienced players.

Thursday, Oct. 24

Creative Hands meets from 9:30 a.m. to noon to work on handicraft projects benefiting various charities in the community. Come and join us. Scrabble happens from 1 to 3 p.m. Drop-ins welcome. The Lake Oswego Respite Program begins at 11:30 a.m. It is held both Tuesdays and Thursdays on an ongoing basis. The bridge and social group meets from noon to 3 p.m. for open play.
