Accessories From the Heart benefit will fund free mammograms

Carol Winston, owner of Accessories From the Heart in Lake Oswego, is hosting a benefit for Women of Meridian Park Hospital’s Mammograms for Underserved Women.

She will donate 20 percent of all sales made Oct. 24 to the program. A special reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. with wine, hors d’oeuvres and raffle prizes.

“This is such an important program. There is huge need for this service,” Winston said.

Through funding from WOMP, Legacy Meridian Park Hospital has provided free mammograms to women the past two years. The organization aims to raise $10,000 this year for the program, which will provide 60 to 65 mammograms to women who otherwise could not afford them.

In addition to raising $10,000 for mammograms for underserved women, WOMP aims this year to raise $15,000 to fund a women’s wellness event in the fall and $26,000 to purchase a bladder scanner, which will support post-operative care.

To learn more about joining WOMP or to support these projects, contact Jan Renfro, associate director of development at Meridian Park Medical Foundation, at 503-692-7624.

Accessories from the Heart is located at 220 A Ave.
