Happy Thanksgiving to all Review and Tidings readers

by: SUBMITTED PHOTO - Be part of West Linns holiday parade Dec. 14. Complete guidelines for participating are on the parks and recreation website.

Those of you who have visited the West Linn Adult Community Center have also seen the lion that stands near the entrance.

Well, the lion is getting a makeover. I’m not talking about the kind of make over like the TV show “What Not to Wear.” This lion is not trading in his plaid bell bottom pants or ’70s long hair. This is a restoration to bring back the original color and proud mane. This ongoing restoration is part of the agreement in accepting the statuary and keeping it in place up at the WLACC in memory of Harold and Dorothy Gross.

Lee Lauritzen is the local artist doing the work. His studio is in Gresham. Lauritzen has been a professional artist for 25 years producing fine art acrylic paintings on canvas. His paintings include a wide variety of subjects in a realistic style. Lauritzen has completed 25 murals, many in private homes.

But he is also known locally for his work on the murals within the cities of Molalla and Sandy as well as Oregon Department of Military and Bureau of Land Management, both in Springfield, Ore.

Lauritzen has been commissioned to paint numerous poster images for agencies, interest groups and educational consortiums. He has won national awards and is exhibited in National Fine Art shows. Checkout his website for a view of his original paintings and prints at leesnaturalimages.com.
