Get free help to file taxes at WLACC

If you’d like help with your taxes this year, consider making an appointment with the AARP Tax-Aide people who will be offering free assistance at the West Linn Adult Community Center every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through April 8.

These volunteers have been trained and certified by the IRS and AARP, and their services are in great demand at the WLACC every year.

The AARP Tax-Aide program is a free tax assistance service for low- and middle-income taxpayers with special attention paid to those 60 and older. The program has more than 32,000 volunteers staffing 6,500 sites across the country, and the WLACC is one of several sites in the Portland area.

Tax-Aide volunteers are trained to help you complete the standard 1040 form and the more standard schedules, like A and B. Also, the volunteers can help you submit your taxes electronically, thereby increasing accuracy and faster processing of returns.

If you want to sign up for assistance, you will be required to bring picture identification, your Social Security number and your 2012 tax return.

Make an appointment for tax assistance by calling the front desk at 503-557-4704.
