Still time to get tickets to daddy/daughter dance

Grab your poodle skirt, grease your hair and shake, rattle ’n’ roll to the annual daddy/daughter dinner, dance and sock hop.

Join us from 6 to 8:30 p.m. March 8 and twist the night away with your favorite girl, enjoy a tasty meal and create a memory to last a lifetime. This event fills up fast, so purchase tickets early.

To register, visit lakeoswegoparks.org or call Lake Oswego Parks and Recreation office at 503-675-2549. Cost is $53 for residents and $67 for nonresidents (price is per pair), ages 3 and older. Additional daughter: $15 for residents and $17 for nonresidents.

The following is a list of classes taught at the West End Building or Lake Oswego Adult Community Center:

Tame Your Tension. Release tension in the body through movement and breath designed to create gentle muscle tremoring which brings the body back to a more balanced state. Taught by Ryan Crosby. Ages 18 and older, 7 to 8 p.m., Mondays, March 3 to April 17, $51.

Intro to Rock Instruments. This course teaches introductory lessons for bass and electric guitar, keyboards, drums, percussion and vocals. Ages 5 to 12, 4 to 4:55 p.m. and ages 8 to 12, 5 to 5:55 p.m., Mondays, March 3 to April 14, $101.

Intro to Guitar. This course is designed to teach students ages 7 through 12 the basic fundamentals and techniques needed to play guitar in any musical style from 6 to 6:55 p.m., Mondays, March 3 to April 14, $101.

Strength Training. Increase muscle strength, improve muscle coordination and balance. Bring a floor mat to class. Ages 18 and older, offered 9 to 10 a.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday, March 3 to May 2. Price is for one class a week $41; participants may sign up for multiple classes.

Sit and Be Fit. Learn and practice exercises you can do while seated and standing with a chair. Ages 18 and older, 10:10 to 11:10 a.m., Monday and Friday, March 3 to May 2, $81.

Zumba Gold. Cardio-based class combining fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body using an aerobic/fitness approach. Ages 18 and older, 4 to 5 p.m. Mondays or 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays, March 3 to April 30, $71.

Back Care. Increase flexibility, lower back and leg strength for proper lifting. Strengthen the muscles that support your back, abdominal muscles and muscles surrounding the spine. Ages 18 and older, 2 to 3 p.m., Fridays, March 7 to May 2, $45.

Fitness and Floor Exercises. Listen to energizing music while using the floor to give you stable posture as you tone the abdominal muscles, providing mobility to the shoulders and upper back. 

Bring a floor mat and stability ball. Ages 18 and older, 3:10 to 4:10 p.m., Fridays March 7 to May 2, $45.

Preregistration is required for nearly all Lake Oswego Parks and Recreation classes and activities.
