Spring is busy time in LO

The sun’s out, and Lake Oswego is keeping busy. Join Lake Oswego Parks and Recreation and explore music, art and dance at the West End Building. Kids can also learn to cook this spring out at Luscher Farm with Chef Laura Content. Children will delight in the taste and smells of pizza, fruits and crispy sun toast.

Cooking at Luscher Farm

Little Chefs-Sun Toast and Fruit Kebabs. Bring your preschooler to the farm for an interactive learning experience. Make a healthy snack together with produce from the garden and develop a life-long love for the culinary arts.

Price is per parent and child. Register in the child’s name. Ages 3 to 8, 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. April 26, $19.

Kids in the Kitchen Spring Fling Pizza. Hands-on fun in the kitchen. Learn important cooking skills while preparing a healthy meal using produce from the Children’s Garden.

Allow creativity to mesh with culinary techniques for exciting results. Ages 6 to 15, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 26, $27.

Music, Arts and Dance

Singing and Songwriting. Do you love to sing and write your own songs? In this class you sing with a group, by yourself and have fun creating your own songs. Ages 5 to 12, 4 to 4:55 p.m.; ages 8 to 12, 5 to 5:55 p.m., Mondays, April 21 to June 2, $101.

Intro to Guitar II. Already have the basics mastered? Dive further into guitar techniques and musical genres. Each week, learn a new style. Ages 7 to 12, 6 to 6:55 p.m. Mondays, April 21 to June 2, $101.

Piano. Learn the basic skills of piano on a keyboard. Group lessons introduce students to the basics of music theory. Learn to play songs, read music and rhythmic expression. Fee includes course materials. Ages 5 to 12, April 24 to May 29. Visit lakeoswegoparks.org for pricing and times.

Bob Ross Oil Painting. This step-by-step class takes beginners to seasoned painters from a blank canvas to a finished masterpiece in one class. All supplies are provided. Ages 12 and older, 5:30 to 9 p.m. April 21, $48.

Belly Dance. Learn basic belly dance torso movement, steps and rhythms. This is a fun workout appropriate for all ages and body types. Ages 12 and older, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Beyond the Basics Belly Dance meets 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, April 21 to June 2, Cost of either session is $49.

Tap Dance for Adults. All abilities are welcome for this introductory class.

Students learn coordination, rhythmic variations and performance skills through a series of tap combinations with instructor Sara Martins.

Ages 16 and older, 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays, April 22 to May 30, $111.
