Artist Yazhari to speak at Lakewood Center for the Arts

The Lakewood Center Associates will hold a meeting and luncheon beginning at 10: 30 a.m., May 15, at the Lakewood Center for the Arts community room at 368 S. State St. in Lake Oswego. The lunch program features artist Beth Yazhari.

A resident of Lake Oswego for the last 12 years, Yazhari has been a part of the Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts for many years. Her focus is on the fiber arts, which she feels is a traditionally underappreciated media. The theme of her work revolves around elevating the status of women and bringing together diverse needlework and design motifs, creating harmony and beauty by repurposing lovingly made decorative textiles.

Yazhari is a graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her art has been featured in galleries and festivals in California, Illinois, Oregon and more. Come hear as she shares her beautiful fiber artwork and perspectives on this art form.

The Associates is a group of volunteers whose mission is to promote the welfare and service the needs of the Lakewood Center for the Arts. The group manages the Re-Runs shop, a consignment and gift shop selling furniture, jewelry, antiques and house wares, as well as overseeing other fund-raising events.

According to LCA President Barbara Kehoe, the group welcomes new members and others to participate in the monthly luncheon programs. The business meeting begins at 10:30 a.m., followed by the program and lunch at 11 a.m. The charge for lunch is $10.
