by: SUBMITTED PHOTO - Playing games and cards can be beneficial to your health. A variety of games are played on a regular basis at the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center.

We at the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center believe card games are not only fun to play, they also a health benefit.

Seriously? Seriously!

According to, socializing while playing keeps you mentally sharp, reduces stress, gives a sense of happiness and lengthens your life span. And that is the benefit just from being with other card players, the games themselves also have a health benefit.

The strategy used to play the games keeps you mentally sharp. You need to use your skills of statistics and probability and that gives your brain a good workout.

To keep sharp is important when you want to razz competitors with a zinger or two. The ACC offers a few card games as on-going activities.

We have pinochle and bridge, but mahjong and Scrabble, although not played with cards, offer the same benefits. If you would like to join one of these on-going activities, call the ACC to be put in contact with the activities coordinator.

Call 503-635-3758 to register for classes, events and make lunch reservations. The ACC is located at 505 G Ave. Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at a suggested donation of $4 for those 60 and over and $5 for everyone else.
