Calling all interested volunteers! The Lake Oswego Adult Community Center offers an array of services, support, trips, learning programs and games, which we could not offer without the assistance of volunteers.
Volunteers are vital to the success of the ACC. And we have a couple programs that are in need of some volunteer leadership. The first is Solo Dinner, started years ago by our former Human Service Manager, Berta Derman. Berta developed the program for single people who enjoy dining out with great company. This program needs a volunteer to serve as the point person at dinner, to ensure all who are expected are seated with the group. The LOACC staff will make reminder calls to participants and even coordinate with the restaurants.
If dining out isn't your thing, then maybe playing games is. We need a volunteer leader for our Bunco group. The ACC coordinated the popular game Bunco once a month last fall. Bunco is an easy dice game in which players rotate to different tables depending on whether they win or lose a hand; it is a fun, competitive game. The LOACC provides all the game pieces; all the volunteer lead needs to do is work with staffer Pam Montoya to schedule a room on a good day.
Both programs offer a great service and an opportunity to socialize. If you are interested in helping with either program, please call Nicolette Hume for more details.
The lunch menu this week features turkey club wrap on Friday, July 28; beef Bolognese on pappardelle pasta on Monday, July 31; and Italian submarine sandwiches on Wednesday, Aug. 2. Cost is a suggested donation of $4 for those 60 and older, and $5 for everyone else.
The LOACC is located at 505 G Ave., Lake Oswego. A list of activities and support groups can be found on our website, loacc.info, under the Calendar banner. Click on "View the Adult Community Center Calendar" and then the activity for more details. Call 503-635-3758 to register for classes, events, make lunch reservations or schedule a massage.
