Blues and gospel singer Rae Gordon will present a benefit concert Aug. 24 in Milwaukie for the Senior Citizens Council of Clackamas County.

SUBMITTED PHOTO - Blues and gospel singer Rae Gordon will present a benefit concert Aug. 24 in Milwaukie for the Senior Citizens Council of Clackamas County. The third-annual Sipping for Seniors beer- and wine-tasting event will take place from 5-8 p.m. at Gray Gables Estate, 3009 S.E. Chestnut St. in Milwaukie. Tickets ($25) include a glass of wine or beer, hors doeuvres and a raffle ticket. Raffle prizes include two suite tickets for an upcoming University of Oregon Ducks football game, donated by Wells Fargo Bank. Gordon is a Portland resident who began her singing career in Los Angeles. Her singing style has been described as a combination of Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin and Grace Slick. Gordon was named the Best Blues Artist in Portland by Willamette Week in 2017, and earlier this year placed third in an international blues competition with her band in Memphis. She has been named Best Female Vocalist by Cascade Blues Association for the past three years.  Founded in 1972, Senior Citizens Council of Clackamas County is committed to improving the quality of life for seniors and adults with disabilities in Clackamas County, and has provided free or low-cost services for homebound, frail, vulnerable and geographically isolated individuals. SSCCCs programs promote independence and the prevention or end of abuse, neglect and exploitation of seniors and adults with disabilities.
