The Portland Chapter of the American Association of Individual Investors invites the public to attend a lively presentation led by Terry Atzen, president and CEO of The Investment Compass, on Keeping Investing Shamelessly Simply. Participants will learn how simplicity, logic and ease of learning are the cornerstones of this approach. Atzen will also share the "teeter-totter" strategy. The event takes place at 9 a.m. Jan. 13 at East Portland Community Center, 740 E. 106th Ave., Portland. Cost is $15 in advance or $20 at the door.

Free Living Well with Diabetes Workshop to begin
Clackamas County Social Services has announced a Living Well with Diabetes Workshop will start Jan. 17. The free six-week workshop series focuses on teaching self-management techniques for those living with diabetes. Each workshop meets from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center, 505 G Ave. in Lake Oswego. Participants must attend all six classes.
