For The Review, Tidings
Moxie Dance Theatre, (MDT) a pre-professional contemporary ballet school located in West Linn, will be auditioning for male and female dancers ages 16 to 25 Aug. 9 for its two-year company training program. At the end of the training program, 10 to 12 dancers will be selected and offered a paid 32-week performing contract and will become Oregons professional Contemporary Ballet Company.
To run from Aug. 25 through June 7, 2016, the rigorous company training program will prepare dancers to work with seasoned faculty, guest artists and choreographers, while refining their technical prowess and artistic maturity in preparation for a professional performing contract.
We are thrilled to have the ability to mold and train a group of talented young dancers, Artistic Director Gina Candland said. Comradery and performing experience are key to creating a cohesive company of dancers.
The company will make its debut 2016-17 performance season at the Joyce Theatre in New York City, as well as locally in Portland.
Moxie Dance Theatre is the creation of the husband and wife team of Marshall and Gina Candland, transplants from the San Francisco Bay area, who have both had successful careers in the arts.
