A young man was taken to the hospital by Life Flight helicopter Monday, Nov. 18, after accidentally shooting himself in the leg near the Molalla Retreat on Dickey Prairie Road at about 4:30 p.m.
Drew Adams, 18, of Oregon City, was getting into his truck after a day of archery hunting south of Molalla.
Adams unholstered his firearm, and in doing so, accidentally fired the weapon. The round struck Adams about midway down his right thigh, said Clackamas County Deputy Sgt. Robert Wurpes.
The Molalla Fire Department and Molalla Police responded to the shooting shortly after 4:30 p.m. Molalla firefighters transported Adams about half a mile in an ambulance from where he shot himself to where Life Flight helicopter landed in a field north of the Glen Avon Bridge.
Adams was taken to Emmanuel Hospital by Life Flight for treatment.
