A man broke into an older couples' home at bedtime Thursday

A Molalla woman confronted a burglar who broke into her home Thursday night and stole a 50-inch flat-screen television.

Deputy Mark Nikolai, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office spokesman, said an older couple living in the 33000 block of South Dickey Prairie Road called 911 at 8:48 p.m. to report that a man had barged into their home, possibly through a back sliding door.

"The woman said she asked, 'What are you doing?' " Nikolai said. The intruder pointed at the woman and said, “You don’t need to bother with who I am or what I’m doing,” and kept on going, a witness reported.

The burglar then carried out the television, jumped into his SUV and drove off.

Witnesses report the man also carried off a second television and had broken into the homeowner’s shed.

Sheriff's deputies, joined by police from Molalla and Happy Valley, searched the area but could not find the SUV.

No one was injured in the incident. Police did not disclose the victims' names.

Police are searching for the man described as 25- to 35-years-old, driving a gray GMC SUV. Nikolai urges anyone with information about the incident or possible suspects to call the sheriff's confidential tip line at 503-723-4949. Confidential text messages can be sent to CRIMES (274637 on a cell phone keypad), with the keyword "CCSO" as the first word in the message. Tips also can be left on the sheriff's online Tip Sheet.
