Sgt. White to retire from Molalla Police Department

After almost 29 years serving the Molalla Police Department, Sgt. Gordon White is moving on.

 - Sgt. Gordon White, who served as Molalla's first Motorcycle Officer, announced his retirment last week.The Molalla Police Department is proud to announce the retirement of Sergeant Gordon White.

Sgt. White will have served the community of Molalla for almost 29 years when he officially hangs up his gun belt on March 1, 2014.

White started his law enforcement career as a Deputy Sheriff with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office in May of 1979. He was hired as a patrol officer with the Molalla Police Department in August of 1985.

Sgt. White had many different assignments while serving with the Molalla Police Department. He was assigned to detectives in 1988 and spent a year in that position. In March of 1994 he was promoted to Corporal.

Also in 1994 he became the first canine handler for the Molalla Police Department. He and his canine partner, Bonzo, served in this position until 1998, when Bonzo retired.

In July of 1998 Sgt. White was promoted to his current rank.

Sgt. White was part of the Molalla Tactical Team from 1999 to 2003, when it was disbanded.

From 2005 to 2007, Sgt. White served with the Clackamas County Interagency Task Force. This task force was made up of members from multiple agencies in Clackamas County and focused on drug enforcement.

In 2007 Sgt. White started and served as Molalla's first Motorcycle Officer until 2010.
