The Molalla City Council named Christopher Cook to replace Councilor Dennis Wise, who resigned two months ago. Cook, who lives in the Meadow lawn neighborhood, ran in the last general election. He told the council he applied for the seat because he wanted to get back into the community. He has lived in Molalla nine years and has served on the board for Big Meadow Home Association, but said he would step down from the board so that he could commit more time to city council matters.

Councilor Glen Boreth said “Chris is a level-headed guy and easy to work with.”

Cook was the lone applicant for the position.

“This is a good way to give back to the community,” he said.

In other council action, George Pottle was named chairman of the council for one year.
