Molalla's new Fox Park Splash Pad opened Friday
After cutting the ribbon to officially open the rebuilt Sally Fox Park Splash Pad Friday morning, Mayor Debbie Rogge joined a bunch of delighted children to test the water when the fountains first turned on.
Its all about the kids, the mayor said later. I was afraid last nights lightening storm would spoil the dedication this morning."
The weather was a bit cloudy, but already warm for the 10 a.m. ceremony, which drew a good crowd of well-wishers and kids.
Construction of the $120,000 project kicked off in June with a July 31 completion date.
Rogge said the city used the last of the Sally Fox donation for the park, about $96,000, to rebuild the existing splash pad, and then used Parks and Recreation funds to cover the balance of the costs.
The project also includes a hook-up for a future security light for the area.
