Molalla Cub Scouts earn District Pack of the Year
Cub Scout Pack 257, sponsored by Molalla Kiwanis, was named Three River District Pack of the Year.
The Pack of the Year is based upon a formula for growth.
"We are small but have doubled in size, and participating in council fundraisers, summer-time activities and boys ranking up, continuing in scouting," said Susan Williams. "We also had a dynamite Blue and Gold banquet, especially as it was their first, and reached our Friends of Scouting donation goal. That is a campaign to raise donations from families and community to further scouting at the council level."
T he five stones displayed at pack meetings represent the five ranks of scouting: first the Cub Scouts earn their Bobcat award, Tiger Wolf, Bear and Webelos. The stones are uneven and the boys process across them with support from Pack and then to their folks. The cub master takes off the old rank neckerchief and after they cross the stones their parents put on the new rank.
"It is sweet to watch, the boys are so excited as they rank up - refreshments flag designed cupcakes were served to special guests and family members," Williams said.
