The passengers are reportedly recovering after the single-vehicle crash on Woodburn-Estacada HWY Monday.

A single car crashed on Woodburn-Estacada Highway Monday morning, sending two to an area hospital.

SUBMITTED PHOTO - Michael Anderson and two passengers were involved in a single-vehicle crash in Colton on Monday, Sept. 11. At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 11, a four-door sedan was traveling northbound on Highway 211 near S. Baurer Road when the driver, who later identified himself to The Pioneer as Michael Anderson, reached into the rear compartment of the vehicle to seize an item from the right rear passenger, according to Oregon State Police. The vehicle then left the roadway, drove down an embankment and struck a power pole.

The crash took out power in the area and shut down traffic in both directions on Highway 211 between S. Baurer Rd. and Schieffer Rd.

Anderson said that the right rear passenger was his five-year-old male cousin, who has autism. The child had just blown his nose and was upset, wanting to hand the soiled Kleenex to Anderson.

The third passenger was a female who was 39 weeks pregnant. Anderson is the father. She was transported by Life Flight as a precaution, per Oregon State Police. The minor was transported by ambulance.

"The two patients had possibly serious, life-threatening injuries," said Molalla Firefighter/Paramedic Bryce Estabrook.

According to Anderson, the child visited the emergency room and was released later that day with minor injuries.

"He's kind of scared to get in a car, which is understandable," Anderson said.

The female passenger suffered spinal fractures, which are expected to heal, and she is doing well, per Anderson.

On Tuesday, Sept. 12, the female passenger gave birth to a baby girl. The baby is Anderson's first child, and she is healthy. Mother and baby remained in the hospital as of Friday, Sept. 15 for observation.

"We're all okay and trying to get through it all together," Anderson said.
