A full night of food and discussion is scheduled at Molalla High, and free flu shots for all will be available from FamilyCare.

Molalla River School District's Department of Supported Education is hosting a Family Resource Night at Molalla High School in the commons and library on Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 5 p.m.

"This is the fourth annual; I'm really excited about that," said Michael Salitore, the director of supported education for the district, at the Sept. 14 school board meeting.

This type of resource event is not available in all school districts, and therefore provides a special opportunity for Molalla area residents.

The event is offered primarily for families in the community whose children or relatives, ages zero to 21, have special needs and who wish to learn more about the resources available to them by different agencies.

After pizza and pop at 6 p.m., there will be a panel discussion at 6:45 p.m. and a table talk from 6:45-8 p.m. Table talk presenters include Development Disability Service, Autism Society of Oregon, Early Intervention, Clackamas Mental Health/Behavioral Health and others.

This year, Salitore is especially excited to welcome FamilyCare Health to the event, who will be offering free flu shots from 5-8 p.m. to the public. No pre-registration is required; those who wish to participate will simply need to sign a waiver form. Salitore wants to invite everyone in the community to come and take advantage of this opportunity.

"One of the big draws that we're going to have this year is that FamilyCare is going to set up a free flu-shot clinic for anyone in the community that wants to come get a flu shot," Salitore said. "You don't have to be insured, you can have private insurance, it doesn't matter."

For those who have little ones, childcare will be available at the resource night. Call Elizabeth Rodriquez at 503-829-2359 ext. 7472 for childcare details and Cheryl Amundson Renton at 971-272-6926 for event details.
