Colton girls basketball suffers early injury
Viking Rachel McCoy out until further notice after injury at Country Christian Basketball Jamboree.
Week one of winter sports is underway. For Molalla, Colton and Country Christian, that meant hammering out some preseason jitters and butterflies in tough games across the board.
However, on top of the full games, Country Christian also hosted a Jamboree on Thursday. Along with Country Christian, Colton, Estacada and Damascus came out to showcase their skills in short, eight-minute matches.
During the Jamboree, freshman Viking Rachel McCoy gave all the athletes and spectators a reminder that basketball is a physically demanding game, one thats speckled with injuries.
While playing Damascus, McCoy went down. Lying on the court, she held her right knee. With help, McCoy limped to the bench. She was taken to urgent care a short while later.
I was just running and did it to myself, she said.
[McCoy] is out until further notice, Coach Kyle Gilstad said. She is doing better and has a positive outlook on the situation. We hope for a speedy recovery and are looking forward to her return.
